Another thing I'm learning is that when there are good days, I have to seize them for all they're worth.
Even if that means not planning anything until the last second.
On Friday morning, the pre-school babies had a little graduation, got their diplomas, and became kindergarteners. (Talk about bittersweet - So proud of them, but man I will miss them!) Friday was also my second consecutive day of no pain meds in two months! So in an attempt to make the most of a "feeling-good" day and the official start of summer, we made a last minute trip to the desert.
We stayed at a tiny little hotel in Palm Springs and after arriving, we wondered how we had gotten so lucky! We were greeted by one of the owners, who informed us that we had arrived right during happy hour, and handed me a (free!) pomegranate margarita before showing us around.
It was just about sunset so the weather was perfectly warm, without being overbearing under the desert sun. We sat by the pool with only one other person on the deck, looked into restaurants for the night and I eventually took a little dip... Even though someone I know was "too hungry" to swim with me. Not going to name any names...
On Friday night, we looked to see if they had any rooms available for Saturday too, so we could extend our stay but they were all booked. To be honest, though, it ended up working out because Saturday was not as much of a "feeling-good" day as Friday had been, and I ended up having to break my 3-day-pain-med-free streak. :( But we enjoyed our last few hours before being sent off with more complementary soft drinks by the owners and promising to come back soon. And we meant that promise whole-heartedly.
Hoping for more little adventures, good days, and longer stays during the rest of the summer.
Glad you're feeling better and having spontaneous little getaways! Btw,you look different in the bathing suit pic. and I can't put my hand on it. haha
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're taking advantage of your pain-free days! While I'm mostly pain-free every day right now, I need to remember to take advantage of it (and, note to self, that doesn't mean eating ice cream every day xD).
ReplyDeleteThat hotel looks amazing! I tell you, customer service is something that makes my heart so happy. Because these days it is RARE. So glad you had a good day. Hoping you have many more :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and LOVE your swimsuit.
your swimsuit, i am dyyyyying! where did you get it?!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was from Forever 21, super cheap! I bought the top this spring and the bottoms last summer. :) I think they were like $7.50 each.
DeleteWow! That hotel sounds absolutely amazing. If I ever make it out there, I know where I'm staying now.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear you had a lovely time! I've been meaning to visit Palm Springs someday, and your post and photos are making me want to go even more now!
