Swimming Lessons for Toby

Toby is not the biggest fan of water, but yesterday at the dog beach, he ran into the waves the second we arrived. If that isn't a testament to how hot it's been lately, then I don't know what is.

That picture where Toby is sticking his tongue out had me cracking up for hours. In fact, I still can't look at it without laughing. It looks like he's taunting us from the water or something!

In case you didn't get your Toby fix from the pictures, here are a few videos that we took of his "swimming lessons". He was less annoyed about them than he usually is. Maybe he will learn to love water one day...? Haha I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one though.

I was telling my family at dinner last night, I really think one of the best feelings in the world is coming home after a day at the beach or after swimming. You were working hard, in the heat, and getting dirty all day.. and then you come home, have a shower, put on your stretchy pants, and lay on the couch. And just going from being hot to cool, active to lazy, and dirty to clean makes it one of the most comfortable things in the world, right? I don't know, maybe it's just me... but I've thought so ever since I was a kid and I'm stickin' with it.

Also, I convinced my brother to watch LOST with me last night! It'll be his first time watching the series and my second time. I just watched it last summer and have been dying to watch it all over again. One of the best shows I've ever seen! I hope Nolan likes it as much as I did!

  2. You're so right, about coming home after a day of swimming/beach time. My favorite thing as a kid was spending all day at the pool, then coming home, putting on PJs and eating peanut butter and honey sandwich. I don't know what it is, but you're right. One of the best feelings ever.

  7. Love the photographs! Awwww, seeing Toby is making me long for a dog of my own! I'll be living vicariously through you though I guess, because sadly I must settle for a cat lol. But he is too cute! And I get what you mean about coming home after the beach. Back when I lived in SC, I visited it all the time. It's such an amazingly thrilling feeling. And Lost is the bomb.com. One of my favorite shows of all time by far! Now that you mention it, I should go watch it a second time too ;)

    1. I'm really glad I'm not on my own with this whole coming-home-from-the-beach-coziness thing. My family kind of looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned it, but now I've got backup! :) Enjoy the rest of your summer!

  9. Haha, your pup is too cute!! I do love that shot with his tongue sticking out :) What a beautiful beach day! I still have not watched LOST, need to. I tried to watch it awhile ago, but my kids were around and it freaked them, so I stopped watching it. But, it did catch my interest, the next time it will have to be after bed time when I watch it ;)

    1. Yeah, if you can find the time I highly recommend it! It took me about halfway into the season to really get hooked, but it's a little dangerous once you're invested in it because it gets a little hard to turn off when it's time to sleep!

  11. Ah, Lost is so good. I can't see how Nolan won't love it. My boyfriend wants to watch it a second time, but we agreed to wait until we buy a house, as motivation to actually start looking at houses. xD

  22. I adore these photos! The moment is captured so well in each of them. And I completely agree with you on that after-beach feeling! When I was younger, I remember coming home from either the beach or swimming, and enjoying a nice bowl of ice cream while magically turning into a couch potato. It's the best!
